Titanic Golf Club, designed by Martin Hawtree opened in 1997 and is 27 holes in 3 loops of 9. Each 9 is very different in character and will meet the requirements of even the most demanding golfers.
There are 18 holes of parkland and 9 holes of links meaning that the golfer will be faced with every kind of golfing challenge in one round. From lakes and rivers to trees and dunes on holes that have been left as natural as possible. Each 9-hole course, (The Mediterranean, The Forest and The River) has its own character but all have perfect symmetry as they are made up of two par threes, five par fours and two par fives. What makes it so clever is that whichever 18-hole combination is chosen it will be between 2,900 and 3,100 meters and have a par 72 to play to. Careful course design means that tees are at the top of former dunes to give great views of across the course to the Mediterranean Sea, the Besgoz River and the Taurus Mountains in the distance.
Gary Johnson from European Golf Design is adding another nine holes at Titanic. A new beachfront hotel is being built on the opening two holes on the Forest course so these will be replaced and in addition to re-modelling these holes and using available land along the coast, the golf facility will be expanded to 36 holes. When this work is complete the Titanic will comprise two 18-hole courses (the Black and the Red) with all 9-hole loops returning to the clubhouse making it possible to play different combinations.
