Links Golf and Scotland go hand in hand, it is the historical home of golf, where golf is a way of life rather than an expensive pastime. Open Championship Links golf venues such as St. Andrews, Troon, Turnberry and Muirfield conjure great memories to all true golf fans.

Scotland is the home of golf and can offer all the named classics, St. Andrews, Carnoustie, Gleneagles, Royal Troon and so, so many more. We can offer packages from one night upwards. One, two or even three centre golfing packages.

Every golfer must take a trip to Scotland to take in the sheer majesty of the golf and the breath-taking landscapes.

We can offer accommodation from Edinburgh nightlife to castles in the Glen. We can even offer the chance to play ‘The Old Course’ via the ballot system.

Scotland, the home of golf, has more than 500 courses which can be found in almost every town in the country. Golf in Scotland was first recorded in the 15th century and the modern game of golf was developed and established in the country. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, known as The R&A, is the world governing body for the game (except in the United States) and to many golfers worldwide the Old Course is considered to be a site of pilgrimage.

Many of Scotland’s golf courses are public courses including some of The Open championship courses.

Scotland Golf Courses

The most popular regions for golf are the famous links around the coast of Scotland.

The Ayrshire Coast on Scotland’s west coast close to Glasgow houses the towns of Troon and Prestwick,
East Lothian to the East of Edinburgh home to Musselburgh and Muirfield Golf Clubs, as well as superb links courses in the towns and villages of Gullane, North Berwick, and Dunbar.

An hour to the North of Edinburgh on the East Coast of Scotland the Home of Golf and the town of St Andrews. The Old Course is the most famous but there are many other courses in the area available at a fraction of the price of the Old Course and many having history dating back hundreds of years.

The Golf courses in the town of St Andrews are all Public courses and managed by the St Andrews Links Trust, Handicap certificates are needed for many (but not all) of the courses in the town.

We also have the Scottish Golf Classic, an organised tournament which is played each year during the summer in St Andrews on some great courses, if you enjoy an organised golf holiday without having to get on a plane this could be the perfect golf holiday for you. Please contact us for more details.

Dundee (Carnoustie) and Aberdeen (Royal Aberdeen) also have quality courses that anywhere else would be would be worth a trip in their own right.

If Links golf is not your favorite do not despair, the Scots built golf courses throughout the country with famous inland courses such as Gleneagles (host of the 2014 Ryder cup) Dalmahoy or Loch Lomond, all renowned world class golf courses and have all featured on the European professional tours.

One thing about Scotland is for certain it contains more golf courses per head of population than anywhere else in the world, from hidden local gems to Open championship courses, Country house golf resorts to the local town golf club something to suite every golfer’s budget.

We cannot hope to include anywhere near all the courses in Scotland but some of the best in our opinion both large and small.
