Redesigned by Lee Schmidt in 2003, Muang Kaew Golf Course features 18 subtlety guarded green complexes most of which are elevated, great golf course conditions and excellent management from a mixture of Western ex-pat and Thai golf service professionals.
As with most of Lee Schmidt's work, the bunkering provides both visual and golfing effect and balances the risk and reward aspect of great golf course design.
The fairways are generous to give the golfer space to circumvent the bunkering and challenging greens. The real challenge is positioning off the tee, the pin position dictates the area on the fairway to be on.
Conditioning is always top quality, established by the joint Western and Thai Managers to USGA standard. The greens give smooth and fast putting surfaces. the normal green speed is 10.5 to 11.5 feet on the stimpmeter.
The short game practice facilities feature two putting greens, a chipping area, and a practice bunker. The course operates a small warm-up practice tee in the mornings and afternoons.
